Kick-off for new CEC working group
That is Europe! People coming together looking to learn from each other and exchange about the main challenges of our times. In this case, it was the first – at least virtual – meeting of the Thematic Group on “education, democracy and diversity” recently established by the Conference of European Churches (CEC). Together, the participants started a fruitful dialogue about the role of education in our European democracies and Churches. As an organisation in partnership of CEC, ICCS continues to participate in CEC’s working process about church and education issues as it has in the past. The board mandated Bianca Kappelhoff, educational researcher at the Comenius Institute (Germany), to take part in it on their behalf. After the first brief exchange via a video conference call, the working group will come together on 23 and 24 March 2020 in Strasbourg for their main kick-off meeting. Bianca underlines: “It was really great to see so many people from different countries coming together to work on this important task. All participants seemed very motivated whether they come from Armenia, Hungary or Norway. This positive spirit made me really look forward to the work ahead of us.”
Bianca will report regularly about the ongoing work of the group here on the ICCS webpage, on our social media channels and the newsletter.
