Robert Jackson and Kevin O’Grady published an article in the journal “Interncultural education” giving an overview over the Council of Europe’s activities in the area of religious education in the last around 20 years. Under the headline “The religious and worldview dimension of intercultural education: the Council of Europe’s contribution” the article explains why studies of religions came late in the Council of Europe’s educational work and traces the development of the project which led to a Recommendation from its Committee of Ministers on teaching about religions and non-religious worldviews and to the follow-up publication of Signposts. ICCS itself has been involved in the development of the latter via its President Dr Peter Schreiner.
